This Week’s Worship Songs

Prepare yourself for Worship this Sunday morning

First time visitors to this page, please read:

Worship is fundamentally an offering; it’s giving more than receiving!*  Back in Old Testament times, worship meant taking your family to the Temple and offering a sacrifice (Exodus 34:20).  Be it wheat or oil, sheep or goat, two principles remained the same: (1) you were to offer God your best (see Exodus 22:17-33), and (2) worship had to cost you something (see 2 Samuel 24:24).

So what about us today?  We still bring an offering to God when we gather on Sunday mornings!  But now, it’s not sheep or goats, but a sacrifice of praise (Hebrews 13:15).

So how is the sacrifice you are bringing to God each Sunday morning during worship?  Ask yourself these questions:

(1) Is it my very best?  Do I mean the words I sing?  Am I actively thinking while I’m singing?  Am I singing the best that I can, with my full voice?  Am I listening attentively during the sermon?

(2) What is my worship costing me?  (Getting up early on Sunday, taking your children with you to church, preparing your heart beforehand, singing a song you don’t necessarily like, but sing it anyway to praise God and encourage your fellow believers, praying diligently throughout the service that God would speak to yourself and others, praying constantly for our Pastor as he brings the Word of God to us…)

That said, this is the point of sharing our upcoming worship songs with you: that you may take time during your week to rehearse these songs with your head, heart, and voice, so you can sing it to God the very best you can this Sunday.  Feel free to click on them to hear a recording of them on YouTube.  Familiarize yourself with ones you may not know, and come ready to sing His praise with your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ this Sunday!
