During the 7th grade, I began to feel God calling me to vocational ministry. With my dad, Sunday school teacher, and student pastor praying for me, I prayed and sought His will for my life. One day at my school’s chapel service, the speaker felt he needed to pray for some individuals in the room. He asked for students that felt like they might be called into the ministry to raise their hand. I raised my hand, and he said that he sensed that about me when we had met earlier. I still wasn’t convinced, though.
The following summer at youth camp, God gave me a clear answer. I do not remember much about the service that night, except that the speaker started the altar call by asking for those who felt a call to vocational ministry to come down first, instead of last like the typical camp altar call. I couldn’t wait any longer to go down and share my calling with everyone.
My heart is to see Hernando Baptist seek Christ and Him alone.
